Our Economy

Like it or not, we are all part of this so-called economy. It is ours. And we have every right to fight for it to better serve humanity.

This economy is not predestined to operate in a certain way. It is not like gravity, set by the laws of nature. It is engineered by human design.

is its current design working?

YES! It is achieving exactly what it has been set out to achieve: to keep GDP rising; and inflation & unemployment at bay.

BUT, this alone is not enough. We must be far more ambitious in setting our economy’s objective.

THE PURPOSE OF OUR ECONOMY MUST BE TO ENABLE BOTH PEOPLE AND PLANET TO FLOURISH.

And to this purpose, we are falling all too short. Stagnant living standards and rising inequality are fuelling an increasing sense of economic disillusionment. And the environmental crisis puts all our futures at jeopardy, to name just a few.

Achieving such a purpose…

requires our economy to undergo a fundamental makeover. Such change is not only necessary, but highly achievable and desirable.

Yes, change is not easy, but as young people we are in a unique place to make it happen

That is why…

E4C is bringing young people together to catalyse economic systems change.

We believe, we all have a role to play in building and implementing a vision for a more sustainable, prosperous and just economy.

e4c & the WELLBEING ECONOMY ALLIANCE Scotland..

have launched a youth working group with this exactly objective: to bring young people together to accelerate this economic transformation here in Scotland.

If you are interested in being a member of this working group, please reach out!
